Lanvin to Design for H&M
One of the most respected design houses in the fashion industry, Lanvin, will collaborate on a collection with Swedish brand H&M, with the collection set to debut on November 23. H&M has worked in the past with fashion designers like Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld on more attractively priced clothing ranges, is now working with Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz.
Elbaz insists that the partnership is a matter of H&M going upscale rather than Lanvin going mass market, a move Elbaz formerly said he would never consider. In a press release, Elbaz said, “we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.”
Olsen Sisters will Work Retail September 10
Fashion designers and actresses Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen plan to work the cash registers for part of the September 10 launch of their pop-up store in New York City. During New York Fashion Week, the two are opening a pop-up branch of their brand Elizabeth+James in the West Village. From 7 to 8 p.m. on September, they plan to ring up customers themselves.
Elizabeth+James is one of the Olsen’s three fashion industry labels, the other two being The Row, and Olsenboye. Elizabeth+James is named after the twins’ brother and sister and contains a lot of ankle boots, oversized shirts, and belted waistlines.
The Next Fashion Must-Have’s
Are you one of those fashionistas who’s just always itching to get their hands on the next “it” thing in the fashion industry?
With all the latest fashion trends that is popping out in the market by the week, who wouldn’t be? It is every girl’s dream to wake up in the morning, put on some make-up, get into a fancy dress, spray on a bit of perfume, & go to a party, catching everyone’s eye.
Padded Cup Elastic Corset – .00
Talking about the new fashion trends out in the market today, did you know that corsets are making a comeback? It’s those things that make women’s (& men’s) waists into smaller sizes, pretty much like a bustier. Only, a bustier is meant only to shape the body, but not so much that it alters it drastically, which a corset does. Both the corset & bustier are making a comeback, as seen in the latest Megan Fox movie.
Tory Burch’s cotton and spandex denim jeans, worn with Ra-re’s polyester and spandex down parka and Bumboo’s organic cotton and viscose T-shirt.
Denim is always part of the fashion industry, and it’s not saying goodbye just yet. Denim doesn’t go out of style, it flows with it. This season, the jeans that are in style are skinny, torn, of dirty khaki, gray, blue or black colors type’s—best combined with long sweaters or tops.
Aum Clothing – Aum Flower Eco-Slouch Pullover –
Another fashion news is the all out total turnover of fashion going green. Fashion designers today are deciding to go green, making environmental friendly clothes & apparels for the new generations.
It’s no wonder though, thinking about how everything is slowly, but surely, making a turnover to a greener pasture. Surely, even the more famous fashion designers are making a heads up into going green. As was said in New York’s fashion shows, “environmentally friendly clothing designs and fabrics are here to stay”.
Just like everything else in this world, fashion style evolves, making every woman want to be updated with every style & trend in the market.
Kate Hudson: ‘Don’t worry about trends’
Kim Cattrall Worked Well with Pat Field
Kim Cattrall was one of the top celebrity fashion trend makers in her role as Samantha Jones in the HBO series “Sex and the City,” and in the two feature films that followed, and she was never afraid to share her opinions with costume designer Patricia Field.
She told Vogue.com that she was comfortable telling Field when she felt like an outfit wouldn’t work for a particular scene. The outfits that young fashion industry designers sent for co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis were sample size, unlike Cattrall, but she was OK with that, saying that she knew a lot of those outfits would not have suited her body type or character. “The thing about Patricia was that she knew the actresses body types very well,” she says.
Emmys 2010: Best and Worst Dressed
The Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out Sunday night, and it didn’t take long for armchair fashion watchers everywhere to become breathless with either stupefaction or happiness at the fashion choices of the women on the red carpet. Here are a few picks for worst and best dressed.
January Jones, Lauren Graham, and Christina Hendricks were among three of the worst dressed stars on parade Sunday night. Jones’ metallic blue Versace concoction somehow combined a front slit with a giant hoop skirt, and it was topped with a cone bra. Madonna could probably get away with it in a video, but even that is somewhat doubtful.
Lauren Graham
January Jones
Christina Hendricks
Lauren Graham wore a confusing black and white outfit by Yegal Azrouel. It had drapes, slits, and clingy parts, and it drew the eye in multiple directions. And sadly, the gorgeous Christina Hendricks, the celebrity trend setter of the moment, looked about two steps away from being Miss Kitty from “Gunsmoke” in a Zac Posen gown that featured a fitted bodice, pouf sleeves, a full skirt complete with ruffle, and ostrich feathers edging the silhouette.
Kyra Sedgwick
Jennifer Carpenter
One fashion industry confection gone very right was the gorgeous wine colored Monique Lhuillier gown worn by Kyra Sedgwick. It was simply gorgeous, age-appropriate, and sexy. Jennifer Carpenter wore a sequined one-shoulder Oday Shakar dress that managed to be both Old Hollywood and brand new looking at the same time.
Claire Danes
Perhaps one of the most beautiful fashion dresses, if not the most beautiful one, was the shimmery Armani Privé strapless gown worn by Claire Danes. It fit and flattered perfectly, and her swingy, shoulder-length blonde ‘do worked great with it. As fashion accessories go, not one of these three best dressed ladies piled it on. All went with simple and clean accessories, the better to let their figures and dresses capture the attention.
A few others that I loved were Brooke Burke, Heidi Klum and Maria Menounos.
Brooke Burke wore a beautiful gown by Mark Zunino with a sexy side slit.
Heidi Klum wore a super-short Marchesa gown and bold Lorraine Schwartz statement jewels.
Maria Menounos ,000 couture gown was inspired by 1920′s old Hollywood glamour by Ralph & Russo.
